Drama Means More Drinking at the Beach
Thursday was supposed to be my first open water scuba dive, but there was some early morning drama at Poseidon. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but Jane had stormed off in the morning quite upset. I think she was having some beef with the owner that morning over the way he ran his business. I was told my lesson would resume the next day.
So instead of my regularly scheduled scuba diving, I ended up drinking 2 beers (which is a lot! 1.5 liters which is about 4 American sized beers), and reading my book by the beach. Then I walked further down the beach and took a nap on a chair to the sound of the ocean. After I browsed some art galleries on Gaulle Rd (the man road that runs from the capital, to the largest southern town). The first place was particularly expensive, but further down the road I found some that were around $7-$8 for a ~10×12 acrylic on canvas. I think it’s worth noting that last time I was here (6 years ago) there were no canvas style paintings. I think I’m going to get some of these for gifts for people back in America. I need to figure out the best way to transport them however.
For dinner I went to my cousin Sigithy’s (spl?) house. I was supposed to try to help fix their internet, but they had some weird hardware that I had never seen before so I was pretty useless as a computer technician.

I finally found your blog, and have spent the last hour or so reading all your posts. It sounds like a pretty interesting vacation, especially the scuba diving and the “devil dance”. I hope things continue to go well, and that you stay away from mosquitoes.
I too hope I stay away from mosquitoes. Hanging out at the beach until after sun down seems to have done the trick.
